A steaming hot pile of our favorite things from around the internets. Blender has annoyed us with their lists before, but we can't help but post something that claims to be The 100 Greatest Rock & Roll Movies of All Time. And we do like a lot of their picks in the top ten (even if they did include the horrendously bad, incredibly overrated Purple Rain). Could DC be planning to kill off Bruce Wayne/Batman??...

We love when we get the opportunity to see a ton of bands in one shot. We love it even more when a couple of the bands are old favorites of ours and others are bands we've never heard of, because it gives us the chance to check out some new music, and if we don't like what we hear, we can always go back to the stuff we know and be completely satisfied. That's why we're pumped up for tomorrow's Vans Warped Tour at the Tweeter Center.

The shapeless dough of the internet, formed into tasty pellets and baked to perfection, just for you.

Yesterday, local radio station WXPN finally finished their playback of their list of the 885 Greatest Artists of All Time, as voted by the XPN community. You can see the entire list here, and make sure to check out this awesome entry on XPN's blog, which is packed with YouTube videos featuring vintage concert footage of the artists who made the top ten. Speaking of the top ten, here they are:

We told you it was coming back in July; later, we warned you when voting had begun. And today, finally, local radio station WXPN's list of the 885 All Time Greatest Artists has been compiled and locked in, and the playback has begun. Today and tomorrow XPN will still be running their Fall Fund Drive, which means they're pretty agonizing to listen to live, but you can keep up with what's going on countdown-wise on XponentialMusic.org, or on the All About the Music Blog.

In October, my fellow Phillyist Jim mourned the resolution of WXPN's list of the 885 All Time Greatest Albums with the question: "What will we listen to with feverish anticipation and argue passionately about now?" How about the 885 All Time Greatest Artists? Because according to Reflections of a Rock Lobster, the blog of XPN (and Phillyist interview survivor) DJ Robert Drake, that's what XPN has on tap for this year.

Now that we've all had time to mull it over (the countdown ended with great fanfare and a live broadcast at the World Cafe this Monday), what does Phillyist think about WXPN's list of the 885 All Time Greatest Albums - specifically, the top ten? Well, first of all, for those of you too lazy to click a link, here is that top ten, reproduced for your pleasure (and/or displeasure):

What do you call an organization made up of musicians dedicated to raising awareness of cervical cancer? Why, Popsmear, of course. Groan if you must (really, we understand if you want to) - but cervical cancer survivor and rock-star-to-be, Christine Baze, has organized such a group under this punny moniker and has put together The Yellow Umbrella Tour - a nationwide series of concerts to raise money to help fight cerivcal cancer.

Phillyist loves a good list of things, especially a countdown of best things, and especially especially a countdown of the best music - there are few things that excite more controversy, argument, and occasionally even thoughtful and considered discussion. So Phillyist has been pretty much obsessed with 88.5 WXPN's list of the 885 All Time Greatest Albums, which they've been revealing over the last two and a half weeks (spin them up on your radio dial, or listen to their live stream here). The list was compiled based on top ten album lists sent in by listeners of the radio station (including yours truly), although how exactly they got from those lists to this one is a bit of a mystery to us; we assume it involved a blender.
