We've got a weird and interesting opportunity for you, via editor Jill, via Maria, via Kathryn: you could square dance with local singer/songwriter Adam Arcuragi - and in outer space, no less. They want 50 people to sign up, hopefully by today, to go down to the Fels Planetarium at the Franklin Science Center on Sunday January 21st from 6PM to 12AM and appear in a music video for Arcuragi. Arcuragi and the band will be playing, Michael Fulton will be directing, Kathryn TeBordo will be choreographing, and you'll be there, dancing. And apparently, kissing; they specify that you should bring someone you want to kiss, if at all possible (but don't worry; it doesn't have to be on the mouth, or with tongue). They don't want kids, but any body types are welcome, and you don't have to be able to dance all that well; the square dancing will be stylized and easy. Even better, pizza and drinks will be provided! But don't be fooled, this is going to be professional and stuff - there's even a dress rehearsal and everything, on Saturday, January 20, 2pm-6pm (if you can't make that, other dates and times are available). E-mail oumopo@yahoo.com for more information, and to RSVP.

We submit, not much. And check it out, there's one going on tomorrow, Saturday the 21st! It's The Clark Park Picnic and Mid-Fall Music Festival, and it's happening in Clark Park's lower bowl at 43rd and Chester in West Philly from 11:30AM-7PM. Like we said, the event is free, but if you shell out $20 you can also get access to an all-you-can-eat barbecue featuring food and beverages by some of Philly's most skilled chefs, with part of the proceeds going to improvement of the park. "Blah blah blah," you're saying, "but who's playing?!" Well, a number of Philly locals, for one. Early acts include Adrienne Hamilton, The GetArounds, and Kiss Kiss Kill. DJ Joey Prajna will be spinning records between acts from 1PM on. The later, bigger acts include Paul Edelman and the Jangling Sparrows, Adam Arcuragi, Himalaya, Enon, and King Britt. We're particularly excited about Enon, because they rock. Anyway, for more info check out UCityPhila.org, ClarkPark.info, or call 215-243-0555.

Fun around town, for $10 or less:

Adam Arcuragi is a Philadelphia singer/songwriter, an award winning poet and playwright, and has recently released his eponymous debut album. To commemorate this career milestone, he's having a cd-release performance at St. Luke and the Epiphany (330 South 13th Street) tonight. (We were about to register surprise at how churches are becoming a hip place to play these days, but in Arcuragi's case it makes some sense; he attempted to record this album in a church, for reasons that remain, to us, a mystery.)
