And in other SEPTA strike news, the union is apparently considering a "revised offer" from SEPTA. Might the strike end by the evening rush hour, and perhaps more importantly, does the "revised offer" give in to some of the union's demands, which will pretty much require commuters to open up our checkbooks to cover increased costs?
There's any number of words you could use to describe Local 234 President Willie Brown, but this one says it all: "the most hated man in Philadelphia."
We hope you voted yesterday. If you didn't, you have no right to complain (at least about the officials who were up for election) until the next cycle. Notable winners include Chris Christie in the NJ gubernatorial race and Judge Joan Orie Melvin in the Pennsylvania Supreme Court election.
Iceman Cliff Lee didn't have his lights-out stuff last night, but it was good enough as the Cardiac Kids v. 2.0 forced the World Series to a Game 6 with an 8-6 win. It'll be Pedro vs. Horseface on Wednesday.
Fortunately, Philly got some measure of victory over New York yesterday, as the Eagles trounced the New Jersey York Giants, 40-17.
SEPTA riders, prepare to get screwed by the Transit Workers Local 234 union if an agreement between SEPTA and the union is not reached by week's end. (Like local columnist Doron Taussig, we're sure the union's choice of timing for a potential strike—to coincide with the World Series—is pure coincidence.)
It looks like the Piazza at Schmidts is canning their $15 all-you-can-drink screenings of Phillies' games for the World Series, thanks to a shooting incident there during the Phightin's' NLCS win last week.
The arrest total from the other night's NLCS win celebrations: 49. We think that's a surprisingly low number. Of course, just wait and see what happens if the Phillies win the World Series.

A 21-year-old West Chester University student was found dead, shot in the face, in North Philadelphia. Police are questioning the student's boyfriend.
The District Attorney's office will seek the death penalty for four people charged in connection with the Rian Thal-Timothy Gilmore murders.
Could revitalization be around the corner for Philadelphia? Some experts suggest that post-recession housing trends will have people moving from the suburbs back into cities.
In other happy sports news, the Eagles announced a $500,000 grant program to assist local animal welfare organizations. Among the recipients of grant money will be our friends at PAWS, who will receive money to support the construction of a low-cost spay and neuter facility in the city.
In other unpleasant Penn news, police are investigating an alleged rape during a party at the Penn chapter house of the Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity. Sources say the alleged rapist is another Penn student, but not a member of the fraternity.
A Grays Ferry man has turned himself in to police after shooting his own son three times during an argument.
The Thal-Gilmore murders have dissuaded us from even the first thought of entering the drug trafficking business. And while we're at it, we think we'll scratch concert promoting off the list too.
