Eric Smith's Profile

Local Philadelphia sketch group Secret Pants recently set up shop near the Constitution Center, asking locals a simple question... Bush, or Batman? Armed with a plethora of quotes from the two famous figures, they challenged people on the street to guess who said what. Sounds easy, right? Hah! Think again. The old guy is definitely our favorite. Thanks for the link, Aaron!... [continue]

A steaming hot pile of our favorite things from around the internets. Watch in awe as a horde of adorable puppies chase down a small child. Adorable. Sonic the Hedgehog turned 17 yesterday and is still a bratty, angst ridden teenager. And really, who can blame him? His recent games have been terrible. Though Sonic Unleashed looks promising. A gross man in Cincinnati had to hide his cellphone in the most awkward of places,... [continue]

A tall, icy glass of our favorite internet junk, just for you. Bored at work? Now you can play thousands of NES games inside your Firefox browser. You can thank us later. The dude abides, man! Big Lebowski action figures. Sold. Sky ceilings. They mimic daylight and the outdoors. If you can afford one, chances are you don't have a cubicle that would require one. A crocodile walks into a bar.... Yeah, it does... [continue]

The best of the internet, squirted out in flavorful neon globules, just for you. Check out this awesome custom made Halo 3 electric guitar that ran creator Paul Bliss almost $2400. Worth every penny, in our opinion. It's even signed by Steve Vai, the creator of that heavy metal version of the Halo theme song. Geek Photoshop graffiti? Cool! We wish we were skilled enough to create this fantastic Iron Man origami. Joystiq reports... [continue]

This past weekend, the Art Star Craft Bazaar took place on Penn’s Landing. With over one hundred artists from around the country, this Bazaar was easily the biggest and best yet. Despite the not-so-great turnout on Saturday (it poured early in the afternoon for an hour), Sunday was spectacular. Lots of people, beautiful weather, a random Coast Guard helicopter, and gorgeous crafts. This Phillyist was on scene with a digital camera, snapping photos and... [continue]

Hey there Phillyist readers. If you’re anywhere near Liberty Place, get out of your cubicle and head on down to the corner of 17th & Chestnut in Center City. If you work in Center City, you’re assaulted by an array of freebie hocking promotion people at least once a week, all of whom are tossing granola bars, packets of oatmeal, coupons for cheesesteaks, and laundry detergent at you from the entrance of City Hall... Ah, flash mobs. We love them. From massive pillow fights to silent discos, they’re generally outrageous, funny, and tend to be a lot safer than actual mobs. We’ve got word that a flash mob will be striking Rittenhouse Square this Saturday, May 17th. Fifty people, all donned in black, will arrive at noon, streaming into the park from all corners. They’ll meet up in the middle, turn east, and look up at the sun... [continue]

If you happened to be near the Visitor’s Center this morning, you might have noticed some dapper and intimidating looking folks perusing the area, and we’re not talking about tourists with floral patterned shirts and hefty digital SLRs. We’re talking Secret Service. A little bird told us that Barack Obama will be making a visit to Philadelphia this Friday, April 18th. Apparently from 6 to 8PM, he’ll be giving a speech on the lawn... Nudar. If you’re wondering if it is what it sounds like, then chances are, you’re spot on. It’s exactly what it sounds like. Nudar (NSFW) is, as the website states, “radar for strip clubs and nudity.” Whether you’re on the hunt for anything from a tasteful nudist resort to a seedy all-nude review, Nudar is a must for those looking for “hawt n00dz” on the go. The software is currently in beta testing and... [continue]

It's been a few weeks since we've introduced a new writer to you, but another joins us today. Eric Smith is big around the Philadelphia Internets, editing both UWISHUNU and Geekadelphia. Somehow, he's able to make time for us, too, and for that, we're grateful. Two weeks ago, we mentioned the arrival of The DentMobile, part of The Dark Knight's viral marketing. Hitting up various locations throughout the country, the I Believe In Harvey Dent... [continue]
