Fog swirls. A scream rings out. Ghostly chains clank. Dragging footsteps get closer … closer …
There’s so many things in Philly to be afraid of (and not just finding out what’s really in cheesesteaks). This town has a long history of horror hosts.
Philly practically invented the concept.
In 1957, WCAU's astoundingly successful Shock Theater featured John Zacherle as host Roland. Nearly twenty years later, WPHL's popular Doctor Shock prowled along in Roland's footsteps. Then the ravishing Karen Scioli picked up the trail as Stella in KYW's Saturday Night Dead. And now comes … Fendred.
Who (or what) is Fendred?
Well might you ask. Fendred is the host of Fendred’s Chamber, a new kind of television show. Ringmaster to a band of ghouls, Fendred invites viewers to drop by his gruesome den where – screening classic terrors like “Carnival of Souls” and “Horror Express” – he delivers chills and giggles in the very best horror host tradition. An Internet television broadcast, Fendred’s Chamber can be viewed on your computer at http://www.veoh.tv. Simply visit the site for the free download, then type Fendred’s Chamber into the search browser. Fendred also hosts an online radio show and to hear it (or chat live with the cast), simply go to http://www.nowlive.com/show/fendred.
For the past two years, Fendred has been on a mission … to bring a horror host back to the Philadelphia area. Fendred’s Chamber does just that. If you’re a fan of cult films and midnight thrills, drop by … if you dare.
