You wouldn't know it from looking at me, or from looking at Ross, but this Phillyist has always had a thing for bad boys. Somewhere near the top of my list of dirty, sexy, hunky sits Anthony Bourdain. Sure, he's got a history of substance abuse, smokes like a chimney, is far too fond of fried foods, and, oh yeah, is old enough to be my father. But I'd run off on a culinary adventure......

Okay, so I've hated on the PLCB and state stores before. And I still think the system is very, very flawed. But once in a while, there's a surprise gem in the Chairman's Selection section. (There's also, apparently, a lot of really bad wine that they're trying to sell quickly in said section. But you take the good with the bad.) One such gem that Ross and I discovered a few months back was......

Last year, we told you what we like to do with our Thanksgiving leftovers. Others take the leftover turkey and make soup or pot pies. Some eat hot turkey sandwiches for weeks. We'd imagine that the week after Thanksgiving isn't a good time at establishments like Bassett's Original Turkey or Boston Market, because, let's face it, it'll be at least a few weeks before anyone is ready for turkey again. But we've gotta eat something......

Our new boyfriend is having a little soiree tonight. Should be a romantic affair: roasted chestnuts and warm apple cider (spiked, natch!) by a warm fire. Sounds delightful – perfect for these increasingly cool evening temperatures we've been having of late. Cider and chestnuts not your thing? Howsabout beer and popcorn, also provided by our boyfriend for a nominal fee (the beer, at least), all in the bar and lounge from nine to midnight. Go......

With the frosty mornings this week, there's no doubt fall has arrived, and with it thoughts of the impending winter holidays... and chilly commutes. The folks at Starbucks will be easing the transition to both tomorrow morning in celebration of the return of their red cup; greeters will regale commuters at 30th Street with oodles of goodies from 7-10AM. There will be samples of appropriate winter drinks, including Christmas Blend, Peppermint Mocha, and Hot Chocolate.......

Phillyist loves food. A lot. So much so that when we’re trapped at our desk unable to nosh, we spend a good deal of time online looking at food-related items and salivating on our keyboard. A particular form of torture pleasure is checking out local food blogs and listings so we can fantasize about restaurants and markets that we could be enjoying that very second if it weren’t for the dastardly need for full......

We know the album's been out forever, but everytime our iPod plays that Amy Winehouse song, we find ourselves bellowing along. We're not sure such vocal stylings are for public consumption, but we're thinking after a few sips of the Cap'n, the public's gonna have to listen whether they like it or not. Why? Because tonight we're going to Karaoke Obscura, a DIY karaoke event that happens the first Thursday of every month at 12 Steps Down (831 Christian St.). This isn't the run of the......

As we're sure you've heard by now, Officer Charles Cassidy, who was shot during the attempted robbery of a Dunkin' Donuts in East Oak Lane yesterday, passed away this morning. Officer Cassidy, who was 54, leaves behind a wife and three children. This isn't going to be a prolonged post, but if you don't have lunch plans, we now have some for you. If you have lunch plans, change them, because the Quizno's stores at 1513 Chestnut Street and 8500 Henry Ave. (in the Andorra Shopping Center) have pledged to donate......
