White House: Vick's Crimes Deserve Condemnation

The laundromat of the national media is, Phillyist hopes, on its final spin cycle. With the ridiculous flurry over Obama's remarks to Jeff Lurie in "praise" of the latter's hiring Michael Vick comes the White House's official statement that the President called mainly to discuss the Eagles' alternative energy plans. It is starting to sound like Lurie is using and abusing the surprise phone call to keep the Vick excitement going while Obama is backpedaling—or telling the truth—when yesterday Bill Burton reframed the phone call, saying the President condemns Vick's actions and that people who have served their time should be able to serve society once again. So again, why all the hype? (Phillyist does get the irony of those last words as we have done two stories on this "story" now.) Dear world, start talking about something that matters. The Vick story is washed out.
