Many of you may have passed on the sales of Black Friday because you're holding out for First Friday, where you will do your shopping and support the local art community simultaneously. This coming First Friday you have the opportunity to support another great cause at PLAYTIME, a fundraiser and toy drive art show. It's a one-stop shop of giving.
On December 3rd, the Philadelphia branch of the Autumn Society, a collective of illustrators from around the world, are putting on their first charity art show at Brave New Worlds. Participating artists have selected a percentage of their sales, ranging from 25% – 100% to be donated to the U.S. Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, a charity that distributes Christmas gifts to less fortunate children.
The Autumn Society has a history of interesting show themes, like 90s Nostalgia and the Golden Age. For PLAYTIME, the artists were asked to create pieces that illustrate their favorite childhood toys, which is sure to result in another great collection from this talented group.
If you are more of an art admirer than a collector, you can still help out the cause by bringing a new, unwrapped toy to put in the on-site donation box. In addition, Brave New Worlds will be donating 100% of their standard commission so you can shop for yourself guilt free. It's an event that will surely make your heart grow three sizes.
