Only one day to go! Deciding on our outfits might take up until the very last minute, but deciding to join us should only take until the end of this post. As you folks have been nothing but awesome to us over the years, we'd like to return the favor. Therefore, we'd love to take this opportunity to remind you of the nifty gifts we have up our sleeves for several lucky party-goers tomorrow.
Because we keep the element of suspense near and dear to our hearts, the following blind items will be up for grabs at our Rockabilly Relaunch Party at National Mechanics. See if you can guess what they are in the comments section. We've even left little hints in the form of links, so this should be easier than doing the Watusi.
- We could bury the lead, but why bother? In a major coup, we have tickets to see a classic punk band who opened up for Pearl Jam and began the closing down at the Spectrum. Could their lead singer possibly be more rockabilly?
- A pair of tickets to see a band whose name is basically the same as a type of beer. Only these guys aren't Mexican, they're British. They're also playing at an unorthodox venue generally used for stage plays.
- You probably already know we're giving away the new full-length by Jared Gorbel, but that's not the only CD we have on our sleigh. In fact, we've got more than most people's unlucky number, and our stash definitely includes one from our favorite local guys, who may or may not have been involved in a North/South conflict with two of the other bands' discs.
- Like watching people stand up? Three winners of this prize (one of those winners being the best commenter on our Foodsday Jell-O post) will each take a guest to do just that in a cool club right near Rittenhouse Square. You know, the kind that traditionally has a brick wall.
- Readers of both classic literature and zombie comics will be pleased with one of three quirky paper prize packs.
- Ardent theatre goers will find something they like as well. As sure as we like puns, we promise they will.
- Sounds like a gun, looks like a rodent. We've got two guest list spots to see this band play the Electric Factory on October 6th.
- Um, that other classic punk band that also opened up for Pearl Jam? The one that actually played on closing night? We've got tickets for them, too. Ha!
- Steampunk is a trend that just won't slow down. We hear there's even a monthly event for that. Actually, we can send you to the monthly event for that. Ladies in fantastic corsets virtually guaranteed.
- We've got one more set of concert tickets / guest passes to give away and this set needs to go to someone who knows that Anthony Green is not just a doctor from ER.
Now that would be all except ... we've got friends in high places. There's a super-fantastic, amazing, exorbitant, gigantic Grand Prize in our back pocket. Except we're pretty sure a hotel room doesn't actually fit in a pocket. And we're definitely sure a luxurious waterfront hotel room, delicious dinner, and VIP access to a swanky nightclub somewhere along the Boardwalk Empire doesn't fit in a pocket.
You have to be there to win, kids, so don't forget to go to bed early tonight. Swaggerific Santa doesn't come for sleep-deprived boys and girls who skip stellar relaunch parties. Don't miss out.
