Phillyist Playlist: Faith No More at the Mann Center

faithnomore.jpg Last year, it seemed a lot to ask to be able to see the reunited Faith No More. To see the legendary rock band you'd have to journey to a major European music festival, the Tel Aviv Fairgrounds, or Coachella Valley. Even when a tour was announced, it was even more impossible still to wish for a Philadelphia show. And of course there wasn't. At least not until the Brooklyn show, Faith No More's first East Coast concert in over a decade, received such an overwhelming response that another East Coast date was practically mandatory. Then, and only then were Philadelphians able to rejoice at the news: Faith No More would (finally) be coming to town.

Now if we thought Passion Pit with Tokyo Police Club at the Mann was a crazy time (which we did), it's possible that we are entirely unprepared for what's to come on Saturday. But we're counting on a couple of things to be true. First, Passion Pit's audience has been passionately devoted to the quirky band for approximately one year. Faith No More's rabid fandom has been bowing down to the band since at least 1989. Second, after 10+ years of starving for Faith No More live, there's no way in hell a large contingent of long-time hard rock worshippers are going to be calmer than a bunch of indie kids. It's a good thing the Mann doesn't have doors, because if it did we have the feeling they'd be getting blown off.
