It's another beautiful day for First Friday festivities. So get out there and have some fun tonight! Here are the offerings we suggest you check out this evening.
- A bunch of South Street/Bella Vista galleries are hosting an Adopt a Pig fundraiser. You can purchase a one-of-a-kind piggy bank created by a local artist, with the proceeds going to support Adopt a Pig's efforts against pediatric cancer. Click through for info on the participating galleries. 6 to 9 p.m.
- New Image, 1939 Chestnut St., features the dynamic prints of local photographer Justin A. Bradley. 5 to 8 p.m.
- Local artist Susan B. Howard presents her inaugural exhibition, "Tipping Point," at Projects Gallery, 629 N. 2nd St. 6 to 9 p.m.
- Silicon Fine Art Gallery, 139 N 3rd St., hosts a reception for its current exhibition, "The Scene/Seen: An Artistic Response the Holocaust." The exhibition features Linda Dubin Garfield's work based on her travels in Eastern Europe, where she questioned and pondered the resident non-Jewish people's thoughts and reactions to the Holocaust. 6:30 to 8 p.m.
- If you're feeling adventurous, head to Piranha Betty's Art Market, 2472 Frankford Ave., for "Sexually Explicit – It's Not Porn, It's Art!" The event includes an exhibition of provocative work from local artists, plus David Ohlerking painting nude portraits of attendee-volunteers and music by Eric 13 from Sex Slaves and others. 6 p.m. to midnight.
