  • A 30 year old man was shot on McKean St in South Philly early Monday evening. The shooting comes on the heels of another in the area early Sunday morning. Lt. Frank Vanore summed up the situation concisely by saying "they've been having some problems in that neighborhood." Indeed.
  • Olney High School may be renamed for Joaquin Rivera, a local activist and musician. Rivera died in November while awaiting treatment at Aria Health in Frankford.
  • The more soda costs you, the less you are likely to drink it, a study published Monday found. The study was released just after Mayor Nutter proposed a 2 cents per ounce tax on soda.
  • Six women in NJ are recovering in the hospital after doctors put caulk in their butts. The women saw unlicensed practitioners, who, instead of using silicone made for injecting into butts, used the stuff commonly used to repair bathtubs. Yikes.
  • Hey! We're good at something! Real Simple magazine ranked Philly the 12th top time-saving city in the country. Criteria included ease of getting around, health and safety, and "green time-savers."
  • Today is going to be another beautiful day, with temperatures in the upper 50s. Enjoy it while you can folks, rain is predicted for the weekend.
