In case our PAWS Cat of the Week didn't give us away, we're pretty partial to furry quadrupeds around here. That's why today's Twitterist is @aburke626. Alanna Burke popped up on Phillyist's radar in a story we read this morning on The Temple News Online. The article details Alanna's efforts to care for a number of stray cats living near Temple's Center City main campus.
She has set up shop at Temple-Cats.org and is using the site to take donations and facilitate adoption efforts. The tweet that caught our eye reads "Temple Cats meeting: Wed, Feb 3, 6:30 PM, Engineering/Architecture building (12th & Norris). Anyone interested in helping, please attend!"
So, if you have a chance to attend tomorrow, head over there and see what you can do. If you can't attend, use their contact form to get in touch and find out how you can help. Alanna suspects that many of the cats she cares for are abandoned pets, and that's why she's working to get them trapped, spayed or neutered, and, if possible, prepared for adoption.
You can find Alanna on six Twitter lists, she's the webmaster at Temple's College of Engineering, and she is so serious about helping these felines that she has been going through at least 10 cans of cat food a day for over two years.
Don't forget to follow her on Twitter and join the Facebook group.
We're on Twitter, too—just follow @Phillyist. Because we choose featured users from amongst our followers, following us is a good way to make sure that you or your organization is in the running. And if you're on Twitter and we haven't found you yet, leave a link to your profile in the comments!
