Superb New Drink Option

Herbal Water We recently had the chance to sample Herbal Water, which is marketed with the tagline "Zero is Good." Turns out they are right in that assumption.

Created by pediatrician Dr. Ayala Laufer (who lives in a suburb of Philadelphia), Ayala's Herbal Water infuses a multitude of herbs with Artesian water. Herbs, typically used to enhance the flavor of food, take water to an entirely new level. So much so, it's actually hard to believe nobody came up with this brilliant idea before. The products have zero calories and zero artificial sweeteners, but are certainly big on taste.

All of the flavors, six in total, are not only calorie-free, but also, there are no preservatives added at all. Our favorite was the lemongrass mint vanilla, which has a slightly minty taste and rich undertones of exotic vanilla. Other taste sensations include ginger lemon, a refreshing balance of two zingy herbs; lavender mint lemongrass thyme, which sound like a lot going on, but works; lemon verbena geranium (we froze this one and made it a granita palate cleanser); clove cardamom cinnamon, for the lovers of savory spice; and finally cinnamon orange peel which was refreshingly citrus.

The superlative powers of water are no big secret, and herbs have been used for years to heal and uplift. Combined with having zero calories, being totally organic and costing roughly two bucks a bottle, one couldn't ask for a better, or better for you, drink. Ayala's Herbal Water can be found online or at Whole Foods.
