Hey guys, remember that thing we've been plugging all month? That awesome photo competition thing called Phillyist Framed? Well, not only are we super psyched about Opening Night on January 29th at Studio 34, but now we're extra special happy because we have found... (drumroll please) an after party location! Once we're finished gawking and handing out the awards at the marvelous multi-purpose venue that is Studio 34, we're headed down the street and around the corner
to Local 44 for celebratory drinks! Local 44 is a "neighborhood beer joint" that has just about every brew you could possibly imagine on tap. West Philly doesn't often get enough credit for some of the cool things it has to offer and happy to be working with two stellar local businesses in this oft under-appreciated area of town.
Since we're on the topic, we have to remind you that there's only ONE WEEK LEFT to get your submissions in. Opening night may not be until January, but we need your photos by 8pm on Wednesday December 30th. You're going to want to get those in because we have the awesomest of the awesome judges to eyeball your work once it's hung. They are:
John Berry—Award-winning online and photo editor for the Times Herald, serving Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.Kyle Cassidy—West Philly father of photo blogging best known for his book Armed America: Portraits of Gun Owners in Their Homes and collaboration with friends Amanda Palmer and Neil Gaiman on Who Killed Amanda Palmer?.
Michael Alan Goldberg—Photographer and music journalist for Philly Weekly and Spin Magazine; current house photographer for WXPN/World Cafe Live.
Charlie Ripper— Art director/executive producer of Charlie's Rippers 2010 Pin-Up Calendar.
And since we're good citizens you know we had to go and get ourselves a charity partner. Philabundance! We'll be collecting canned goods and other non-perishable food items for Philabundance on Opening Night.
We've got more great things up our sleeves for Opening Night. We keep saying it, but it's true. In the past few weeks we've revealed one gallery venue, four amazing judges, one charity partner, one after party host, and a partridge in a pear tree. Oh wait, no, we don't have the bird or the tree. But maybe someone can take a photograph of one and we'll choose it for exhibition. Just an idea...
Now, we want to make it as easy as possible for you to submit your pics so a refresher on the rules and a convenient copy of the entry form are included after the jump. If you have any questions, please email us. Don't get wrapped up in the holiday weekend and forget all about us! Do it now!
