The day you've been waiting for has arrived! We're pleased to announce the 2010 Phillyist Framed photography competition is officially open for entries. It's that time of year when we like to give some of our most talented readers the opportunity to exhibit in a week-long photo show at Studio 34. We here at Phillyist we will be selecting approximately 30 photographs and then, at our Opening Night Gala on Friday, January 29, 2010, our phenomenal guest judges will be awarding 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners.
Our brilliant and fantastic judges for the evening will be:
- John Berry—From Temple University graduate to award-winning editor/photographer, John is the online and photo editor for the Times Herald, serving Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. This local boy-made-good has been recognized by both the Pennsylvania Associated Press Managing Editors and the Philadelphia Press Association.
- Michael Alan Goldberg—A prolific photographer and music journalist for publications such as Philly Weekly and Spin Magazine, Michael is also the current house photographer for WXPN/World Cafe Live. Michael is no stranger to photography exhibitions as his amazing work has been featured at several solo and gallery shows throughout the years.
- Charlie Ripper—You may remember Charlie from a Phillyist feature a couple of weeks back. Alt-art brainiac and pin-up maven, she's the beautiful and talented art director/executive producer of Charlie's Rippers 2010 Pin-Up Calendar.
We can't thank them enough for being on board to help us celebrate the Phillyist photo community. There are some big plans in motion that we can't announce just yet, so you'll want to stay tuned.
