- John "Jordan" Lewis, who murdered Philadelphia Police Officer Chuck Cassidy, was sentenced to death yesterday. The jury deliberated for less than an hour in deciding whether to sentence Lewis to life in prison or death. Cassidy's widow, Judy, probably put it best: "There are no winners" in this case.
- The off-duty police officer who shot and killed 21-year-old William Panas, Jr., during a street brawl in Port Richmond had been investigated for a number of civilian complaints, including seeking retribution for his family while off-duty and using excessive force.
