Today happens to be National Poetry Day for our friends across the pond. And for those of us here in Philadelphia—you know, on the winning side of that little revolution—it's Game 2 of the NLDS between the Phightin's and the Rockies.
Because this Phillyist is a bit of an Anglophile, I thought it appropriate to commemorate Britain's "holiday" and our own important event today in a single post, by celebrating the Phillies through a few of poetry's classic forms. Enjoy!
Roses are red,
Violets are blue.
Chase Utley is dreamy
And Cliff Lee is, too!

There once was a man from Nantucket
With ponies of Bud Light in bucket.
For the game he to peek,
Away from work he must sneak.
Thursday? Call it Friday, and fuck it!
