A day after the legendary Flaming Lips grace the Festival Pier, WMMR brings in the hard rock for Jaxon's Low Dough Rock Show. Okay, there really isn't any correlation, we just really like the Flaming Lips. But we also like Chicago trio Chevelle (Myspace), playing on Sunday with Staind, Shinedown, and Halestorm (PA's own slightly heavier version of Paramore).
Chevelle's 5th album, Sci-Fi Crimes, doesn't come out until August 31st. That may not be too far off, but meanwhile the sky is getting darker earlier and earlier. So, as both summer and the outdoor shows at Festival Pier draw to a close—as of right now, Sunday's festivities are the last listing on the Concert Series Calendar—head on over to the waterfront for a live preview. If you're in the mood for a good, old-fashioned, quadruple-bill rock concert, it's just the place to be this weekend.
