Jail Cell

  • A Colwyn man was sentenced today to 120 years—no, that's not a typo—for creating and possessing a huge stock of child pornography, including some that "shows him sexually assaulting a dozen children, including infants at a girlfriend's in-home day care." Seriously, we can't wait to report when this guy is found beaten to death in his cell by a dozen violent felons.
  • Governor Rendell is all fired up about the people who are still questioning President Obama's citizenship. We're kind of tired of the story ourselves, so we appreciated where he was coming from when he referred to these protestors, or "birthers," as being "absolutely nuts."
  • A woman was raped in a parking lot near Fairmount Park last night as she prepared to go jogging. Police have not identified any indication that this assault marks the return of the "Fairmount Park Rapist," who was last heard from two years ago.
  • Pedro Martinez will make his first start as a Phillie tonight.
  • SEPTA has begun its $25 million overhaul of the Spring Garden and Girard stops of the Broad Street Line.
  • Police are investigating the death of a 42 year old adult day care center worker who was found in a pool of blood in her North Philadelphia home this morning.
