- A Baltimore developer presented a plan to transform the site of the Spectrum into an easier connection between the Wachovia Center, Citizens Bank Park and Lincoln Financial Field. The $100 million plan will connect the sites with a partially covered street that will be lined with bars, shops and the like. The idea is designed after Boston's Quincy Market and Baltimore's Power Plant Live!
- SEPTA is considering getting rid of the "R" train designations. They are taking many options into consideration, but are asking for input from riders and other stakeholders. The current system is difficult to understand for infrequent riders.
- Philadelphia Newspapers LLC will make a public reorganization plan by the end of next week. Peter J. Young, an attorney for the newspapers, told the bankruptcy judge that the company is still going over the details with investors.
- The city's five-year financial plan was approved by the Pennsylvania Intergovernmental Cooperation Authority yesterday. The only catch is that because the state's budget hasn't been settled, the state's approval to increase the city sales tax and to change the city's pension-fund payments has not yet happened. Those items can generate nearly $700 million over five years.
- Jayson Werth blasted a home run in the bottom of the 13th inning to give the Phillies a 4-1 win over the visiting Chicago Cubs yesterday. The Phillies have now won 10 games in a row.
