
- Tonight at midnight contracts for 20,000 city union workers expire. While a deal hasn't been reached, Cathy Scott, president of AFSCME District Council 47 doesn't expect a strike.
- Teachers and employees in the Quakertown Community School District agreed to $700,000 in contract concessions in order to protect the community's schools, sports programs and to keep a school open. The school district was under pressure from a budget pinch due to the economic condidtions.
- The Fraternal Order of Police is pushing to eliminate the requirement that police officers live within city limits. "Our position is: It would be good for our members and their families," said FOP vice president John McGrody. "Our members signed up for this job. Not their families."
- W. Randall Jones compiled a book called The Richest Man in Town which includes a number of local men. Chief among them is Josh Kopelman. Kopelman was apparently upset about the title.
- The city released its list of tax delinquents who owe the city for back business taxes. You can find the list here.
