
- Philadelphia's elected officials are up for a five-percent cost-of-living-adjustment raise. Mayor Nutter and 19 cabinet members and commissioners will give back their raises.
- Tony Blair spoke at the University of Pennsylvania yesterday. Blair's speech focused on faith and its ability to bring people together and humanize them.
- Four people remain in the hospital after suffering injuries as a result of a taxicab jumping a curb Wednesday night on Broad Street. The cab was trying to avoid hitting a car that was trying to merge onto Broad Street near Spruce Street.
- New Jersey lawmakers approved a $29 billion budget. The budget relies on $2 billion in federal stimulus aid, an income tax hike, and cutting property-tax rebates.
- With the 17th pick last night in the NBA draft the 76ers chose Jrue Holiday, a point guard from UCLA. Holiday is a 6'4" true point guard who just turned 19 two weeks ago. He has court vision and unselfishness—keys to a good point guard.



I'm not gonna miss that logo -- I am digging the retro one. Now, if the Sixers can just get rid of that f*cking ugly, disturbingly anthropomorphic, Island-Of-Dr.-Moreau cast-off of a mascot Hip Hop, then all will be better. Well, that and recruit a player or two with game that ignites . . . explosively!
