
- Two people were critically injured last night as a cab jumped a curb in an attempt to miss another car. Broad Street was closed for several hours due to the accident.
- Larry Mendte filed a motion in federal court attacking his sentence. Mendte contends that he was promised to be charged with a misdemeanor even though he testified in open court that there were no promises associated with his guilty plea.

- The Philadelphia Planning Commission gave SugarHouse Casino approval to begin construction at its site on the Delaware River waterfront. The casino expects to be open by Spring 2010.
- The Philadelphia Zoo will move its two remaining elephants to a conservation center operated by the Pittsburgh Zoo. The move comes amid a lack of funding which did not allow for the construction of a better habitat.
