Blogged Around Philly: The Take the Pledge Edition

"As a matter of fact, to really do this right, it would be best if you would avoid feeding them home cooking. Force them to go to all-you-can-eat buffets, and in the case of the relief pitchers, they can only eat fast food tacos." Balls, Sticks, & Stuff implores the Phillies wives/girlfriends/significant others to take a stand in helping the Phils win some more games at home.

"The beat men say Howard had to go back to the hospital last night after slugging a pinch hit homer when he was supposedly unavailable. I think it's fairly safe to say his consecutive game streak (longest current) will come to an end today. Of course, I thought that yesterday too. No worries, big guy. You can stay home from school, watch a little Gilligan's Island, and hit up the chicken soup. The rest of you... WINNING IS EVERYTHING." Matt P from The700level has some fatherly advice for the Phils.

"I was highly disappointed when a station manager at Suburban told me that the recycling cans are merely 'feel-good' containers. Apparently workers dump the recycling in with the trash on pick-up." SEPTAwatch reports some crappy news about our favorite transit and their real take on going green.

"But we had so many questions: Who opens a store in NoLibs and complains about 'hipsters?' What business owner sees a review like this and decides to make an enemy when, with just a little sugar, they could make a lifelong customer? And finally, given the store's closing, what God of Irony do we thank that The Toy Shop picked up its toys and went home? Literally. Ah Yelp, you might be teaching us something after all." Philebrity ponders on Yelp reviews and hipsters.

"Do you, Brian Hickey, solemly swear that you will not comment about, or post links to, anything Arthur-related until he absolutely humiliates his-couchliving-self -- and Philadelphia as a whole -- during his four-day Los Angeles stay? I so solemnly swear." Brian Hickey at Philly Blunt makes a pledge we can all stand behind.

I'm ashamed to admit that "The Pledge" ended this morning, after six days of steadfast dedication to the cause. But, I could not let his Los Angeles offenses go unpunished.

six days is a good fast.

and AK did do a good job at humiliating himself with that video today.
