PAWS Dog of the Week

It's that time of year again: kitten season. That means that young kittens need foster care until they're big enough to be neutered/spayed and adopted, and older cats in Philadelphia's shelters are at even higher risk for euthanasia because of lack of space due to the deluge of kittens. PAWS gives these animals a chance at life by getting them out of the shelter and into caring homes. If you've thought about becoming involved as a volunteer or foster parent, now is the time. Damien (ID# A07337246)

Damien was surrendered to animal control with his 11(!) puppies; apparently, his human was having landlord issues. (We can't imagine what those might have been, what with a dozen dogs in the house and all.) Damien's a fairly young guy, 1 to 2 years old, and he's on the energetic side. He has some lapdog tendencies and loves to snuggle, but he's also capable of going from 0 to 60 in a matter of seconds. He will need a daily walk, and he'd make a great running partner. Damien is crate trained and housebroken, and knows commands like "sit," "wait," and "go to your bed," but he still needs a little work on leash training. Because of his size (about 55lbs.) and energy, Damien should go to a home without cats or small children. But in the right home, he'll be one great dog.
