Sparky and Snarky Tell You What to Do

Dear Sparky and Snarky,
I've been seeing this guy non-exclusively for a while, maybe six or eight months. When it started out, the sex sucked, but now it's amazing. We have fun together, but he's something of a narcissist. I know he really cares for me, but I also know that he can't truly commit to me. If I break things off, I think he'll be hurt, and that would kill our friendship. Plus, the sex really is great (or maybe I'm just not used to being in this "role" and I enjoy the change). What do I do with this guy?
-Stuck in a Rut

Dear Stuck,
He doesn't really care for you. If he did, he would commit to you. Your reluctance to break things off out of fear of hurting him tells me you've developed feelings for this guy, but it sounds like the sex is really the only thing that's working in this relationship. Break it off and find someone else to have amazing sex with. There are plenty of guys out there who are great in bed and will think about you instead of just themselves.
xo, Snarky

The ones that sneak up on us always get a good grip, don't they? It's great when things start out underwhelming and grow into something really impressive, novel even; but just because the sex became what you wanted it to be, doesn't mean the relationship can or will. Judging by the fact that it's not following suit (usually the sex improving follows the relationship improving, actually), I wouldn't wait around. And yes, he will be hurt, but what narcissist isn't hurt when you don't worship them? If what you want is someone who can commit to you, stop f--ing this guy while you wait around; it's really not fair to him. Go rut somewhere else, my friend.
Sparky!
