- The latest from CES 2009: Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer showed off Windows 7 and said it will be available as a public beta on Friday; Microsoft reps also talked a bit about Halo, and even announced release dates; backstage pics; a video (posted before the start of CES) previewing the gadgets that'll be on display; a closer look at LG's watch phone, the gadget everybody's going crazy for, and news on other fun LG products; the world's first portable Blu-ray player; and no Rock Band 3 in 2009.
- The Onion hits the nail on the head with a hilarious parody of Apple, its products, and its fans in this recent video.
- More lists looking back at last year and looking ahead to next year: the best video games of 2008, various lists of the best comic books of 2008 (we couldn't resist adding our own lists to the pile in the comments), the sci-fi/fantasy films of 2009, and some interesting predictions about technology in 2009.
- Mickey Rourke has been cast as a villain in Iron Man 2, although which villain seems to still be in question. Variety says he'll play Crimson Dynamo, while THR says it'll be Whiplash, AKA Blacklash. Rourke has also joined the already pretty impressive cast of The Expendables. And in other Iron Man 2 news, Sam Rockwell might play Stark rival Justin Hammer.
- The Movie Blog highlights a hilariously useless product. We learned from the comments that the thing actually exists, and even makes realistic noises!
- Hustler publisher Larry Flynt and Girls Gone Wild CEO Joe Francis are requesting that Congress allocate $5 billion for a bailout of the adult entertainment industry. Heh heh. Sure, they're sleazy, but they make a good point. (Via)

- Arcade Fire members Win Butler, Regine Chassagne, and Owen Pallet are doing the score for Richard Kelly's The Box.

- A new study reveals that playing Tetris can help those with post-traumatic stress disorder.

- Mad Catz has announced a bunch of Street Fighter IV controllers and accessories.
- While announcing a June 19 release date for the Blu-ray version of Ghostbusters (the movie), Sony also confirmed a release date of June 16th for Ghostbusters: The Video Game. But seeing as how the game's developer, Atari, hasn't said anything about a release date yet, you might want to take that with a grain of salt.
- Microsoft expects Sony to drop the price of the PS3 in the next couple of months.
- Aliens: Colonial Marines will supposedly be released in Q1 of this year, although Joystiq isn't so sure.
- The upcoming TV show Flash Forward is designed to reset itself each season, starting with a new flash and ending when the premonitions come true.
- Garret Dillahunt—Cromartie/John Henry from Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles—talks about his role in the upcoming film adaptation of The Road.
