Beef and Beer for Brian Hickey

hickey_0106.jpgAs we stated in our Yo, Philly in the News post on December 1, 2007, former Philadelphia City Paper managing editor Brian Hickey was gravely injured in a hit-and-run in Collingswood, New Jersey, by an asshole motorist. Hickey also managed the campaign for John Dougherty's attempt to unseat Senator Vincent Fumo.

The Philadelphia City Paper and the Pen & Pencil Club have organized a Beef and Beer event to raise money for Hickey's family. All proceeds from the event will go directly to Brian's family to support his recovery.

You can also follow Brian's progress with his injuries via the sporadic updates provided by Jeff Pearlman (famed scribe of Boys Will Be Boys: The Glory Days and Party Nights of the Dallas Cowboys Dynasty) on his blog.

From all of us here at Phillyist, get well, Brian. We wish you the best!
