It was just not a good week to be a lawyer with a drug problem. But then, we suppose, when is it? Criminal defense attorney D. Scott Perrine, who was arrested back in October for allegedly bringing cocaine into a prison facility, was ordered to prison—the very same prison, in fact, that he allegedly brought the cocaine into and was arrested at—after missing a hearing last week. We're pretty sure one of the first rules of being a criminal defense attorney is to avoid being a criminal defendant, but we could be wrong.
But as big as Perrine's mistakes may have been, he was vastly overshadowed this week by one Adam Yanoff, another attorney who was jailed on drug charges this week. Big deal, you might think. After all, who cares if a lawyer is on drugs? Ordinarily, we'd probably agree with you. But in Yanoff's case, we'll beg to differ, because he's a Philadelphia Assistant District Attorney. If any type of lawyer should know better, it's a prosecutor. Or at least one would think. But apparently Yanoff wasn't so big on that whole thinking thing. At least that's what him being seen by a police officer while "snorting a white, powdery substance" and possessing crack cocaine and marijuana leads us to believe. It also leads us to deem him our Asshole of the Week.
