
- Yesterday, Mayor Nutter signed zoning legislation that helps clear the way for Foxwoods Casino to put a 3,000-machine slot parlor in the Gallery at Market East. Foxwoods is now allowed to apply to the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board for permission to move its proposed casino from the waterfront to Center City.
- Losses in their pension fund may force SEPTA to limit plans to expand service and improve stations. From October 2007 through last month, the value of the pension fund fell from $800 million to $550 million – a 31 percent drop.
- New Jersey State Senator Wayne Bryant’s case is in the hands of the jury. Bryant allegedly channeled millions of dollars in state money to the School of Osteopathic Medicine of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey through a position he accepted with the school.
- Look for higher tolls on the Atlantic City Expressway on Tuesday morning. 25 cent ramps will increase to 40 cents and all 50 cent ramps will now cost 75 cents. Tolls at the Egg Harbor plaza will increase from $2 to $3. The Pleasantville toll plaza will increase from 50 cents to 75 cents.
- Yesterday in Cincinnati, the Eagles played to a 13-13 tie with the Bengals. The tie is the first in the NFL since 2002. Many Eagles players, including Donovan McNabb, didn’t even know that a game could end in a tie. The Eagles are back in action on Sunday at Baltimore where they will face the Ravens who fell to the Giants 30-10 yesterday.
