Breaking News: Ryan Howard Misses Out on MVP

ESPN.com is reporting that St. Louis Cardinals' first baseman Albert Pujols won the National League MVP Award today over the Phillies' Ryan Howard. Both have previously won the award, Pujols in 2005 and Howard in 2006.

It was a close race, but it seems Howard will just have to dry his tears with his World Series Ring.

Does this mean he'll stop whining about Howard winning the award in 2006?

Seriously, considering his team didn't qualify for a playoff spot this year...or even 2nd place.

So after winning, Pujols said, "I wasn't surprised at all. You have to consider everything. You have to put all the numbers together."

So this year, "all the numbers" didn't include "number of playoff games played," but in 2006, that was one of the numbers that should have counted: "I see it this way: Someone who doesn't take his team to the playoffs doesn't deserve to win the MVP."

What's that smell? Oh yeah—it's bullshit.

Pujols = Best Offensive Player.

Leading your team to 3rd place does not make you valuable.

I would have voted Delgado, Sabathia or Manny Being Manny ahead of him.
And Howard, of course.

I believe the Cardinals finished in 4th place, actually.

I thought the Astros might have passed them at the end, but I didn't care enough to look. Even more reason that he shouldn't have won.
