Return to Sender: Teh Cuteness! We Can't Takez It!

To the evil genius behind the Shiba Inu Puppy Cam:

You sick sadistic sonofabitch.

There aren't enough addictive websites on the internet for you? No, apparently not. Because you had to go and post the most addictive of them all.

My productivity has been reduced drastically since I discovered your site. I'm forcing myself to meet deadlines. (I'm meeting them, but not at my usual speed.) I've started leaving the site open all day so that I can quickly toggle over and check on the puppies. The other day, my boss heard a loud squeak coming from my computer and I had to explain your concept to her. She's a dog lover, but I'm not sure that she approves of my obsession. I can't help it. I need to be able to check in. Are they eating? Playing? Sleeping? I don't want to miss a cute moment. (And somehow, they're even cute when they're peeing, so there aren't really any moments I'd be okay with missing.)

This would all be fine if I knew that the puppy cam would be around forever, but it won't, will it? Someday, those puppies are going to be separated. They'll go to their new homes. And the live stream of cuteness will be no more.

And so I have a request to make. This may be irresponsible of me, seeing as I'm a big believer in adopting shelter dogs. But, um, could you keep doing what you're doing? That is, could you keep breeding adorable, fuzzy Shiba Inu puppies to stream worldwide 12+ hours a day? Because I know I'm not alone (the 25,000 other people watching the puppies as I write this will agree) when I say that the internet will be a sad, empty place when the puppies go and the camera is turned off for the last time.

Oh jeez Jill. Seriously? It wasn't enough for you and Ross to be addicted, ooooh nooooooooo.

You have to bring this delightfully cute stream into others lives as well?! UGH!!! Shame on you!

(says in a hushed tone) thanks. :-)

Yes, they’re VERY cute, but they are little teddy bears with an attitude when they grow up.

Should you suddenly have the urge to add a shiba inu to your life, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE check out the breed.

My site www.shibaweb.com has a lot of information for people interested the breed, and of course, the National Shiba Club of America site is www.shibas.org

Do not make an uninformed decision, Midwest Shiba Inu Rescue (www.shibarescue.org) is full of shibas that no longer have their happy homes because the owners did not do their homework (or they were being outplaced from puppy mills).

If you’re still absolutely convinced that the shiba inu is for you …

#1 rule — DO NOT buy one at a pet store, these are the products of puppy mills and back yard breeders, no matter what they tell you. NO reputable breeder will sell their puppies through a broker or pet store. For more information see my site.

Please check out the breeder’s listing at the NSCA site, or check out your local rescue.

Shibas are great dogs in the right hands, but they’re definitely not for everyone!

Thanks Lyn. Rest assured that, as addicted as I am to Shiba Cam, I definitely did my research on the breed and decided that it wasn't for me (at least not at this point in my life).

And thanks also for encouraging people NOT to patronize pet stores. They are, in fact, evil.
