- A great parody image of the presidential and vice presidential candidates as heroes and villains from Batman (via). In other hilarious political news, now that the campaign is over, aides from the Palin and McCain camps are taking shots at one another, and all kinds of nasty dirt about Palin is coming out. Bah ha ha ha!
- Harry Knowles has a source who tells him the new Forbidden Planet will be less a remake and more a continuation. It will supposedly be an "enormous, giant, retro sci-fi movie" with nothing "sleek or chromy," and Robby the Robot will appear in the film. (Via)

- Millennium Film is teaming up Sylvester Stallone, Jet Li, and Jason Statham in an upcoming action film called The Expendables wherein their characters will be sent to infiltrate a South American country and overthrow its ruthless dictator to liberate the population. They're the Expendables in that they're hired to do jobs that no one else can or will.

- Sci Fi Wire picks the "6 Baddest-Ass Sci Fi Sidearms Ever," and argues that Summer Glau's Cameron is the best Terminator ever. And speaking of Terminator, looks like they're going to move the show to Fridays at 8PM on Feb. 13, 2009, and the first episode of Dollhouse will premiere immediately after it on that date.
- Wired presents a gallery of Buck Rogers stuff from the 20th century.
- Gadget Lab says the phone of the near future will have no buttons, but will instead respond to voice and gesture commands.
- Listening Post lets us know about a neat-sounding app for your iPhone or iPod Touch called FourTrack. It records, mixes and plays up to four tracks like a shrunken version of Pro Tools. Speaking of the iPhone, check out what appear to be screenshots of the iPhone 2.2 software, which confirm over-the-air podcast downloads direct to the iPhone, amongst other things. But while Apple is updating the iPhone, they might want to head on over to Please Fix the iPhone and take a few notes (via).

- A prequel to Smokin' Aces just got the green light. Filmmaker Joe Carnahan promises many cameos.
- Jean Claude Van Damme has signed on for another Universal Soldier movie (Cinematical says it's the third, but we're pretty sure there were more than that).
- We don't quite understand all the technical terms, but apparently WPA encryption has been cracked, and you should upgrade your router to WPA2 if you can to avoid the hackers.
- Write or Die sounds like a creepy application. You can turn it on to keep you motivated and working; it will send you reminders if you stop typing. You can set how gentle or nasty the reminders are; they range from a polite pop up box to actually undoing what you've been typing.

- The CW and Warner Brothers TV have scrapped plans to make The Graysons, a show that was going to focus on Dick Grayson's life before he became Robin. Apparently Warner Brothers Pictures Group president Jeff Robinov had second thoughts about the show concept.
- Publisher Sega just announced a huge collection of classic Sega Genesis titles is en route to the Xbox 360 and PS3 in a package dubbed Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection.
