- While Michael might have been happy that a Democrat will be taking over the White House in January, we've got to guess that, on the whole, this was not a good week for him. The primary reason: he had to announce that, due to the tough economic times, the city is slashing its budget by $1 billion...
- ...and people are not happy about it.
- One particular cut that's got Michael upset is that eleven city libraries will be closing.
- In light of the budget cuts, we are even more ticked about Tuesday's passage of the charter referendum—which Michael supported—that abolished the Fairmount Park Commission. If we've got this straight, we're now going to create a new city Department of Parks & Recreation at a time when we're trying to slash the budget. Bang-up job, guys.
- We wonder if this'll hurt Michael's chances of ever becoming Governor.
