What a Month for Philly!

Now that the election buzz has died down just a tad and the baseball season is over, it’s time to reflect a bit on the month that was. Here’s just a brief look at all the cool happenings since October 5th:

• The Phillies go undefeated at home and ride the Philly fans to a World Series Championship.
• Chase Utley endears himself to us forever with, “World champions…WORLD FU&*ING CHAMPIONS!”
• Matt Stairs gives Chase Utley a run for his money in the Quote of the Year contest, saying, “There’s nothing like getting your ass hammered by a bunch of guys,” about hitting a game-winning home-run in the NLCS.
• Sarah Palin got booed at a Flyers game and Bruce Springsteen gave a free outdoor show.
• Some Senator from Illinois made the movie Head of State starring Chris Rock instantly dated.
• Even though he’s pretty much the most famous person in the world, Barack Obama takes his daughter trick-or-treating because he's a good dad, not for a photo-op. AND Sasha and Malia are getting a puppy!
• If anyone was near Independence Hall last night around midnight, they were in for a real treat and a beautiful display of patriotism. It was like the Phillies victory minus the arbitrary vandalism and it continued through Broad Street.

One final note: November 2-8 is Animal Shelter Appreciation Week. Do whatever you can to help out this GREAT cause, even if it’s something small like raising awareness and spreading the word. By the way, does it seem like the Phillies winning the World Series was more improbable than Barack Obama winning the White House? Just a thought.
