Ages past, in the distant, hazy days of February, 2006, an ultra-violent, editorial junta arose from amongst the staff of Phillyist and overthrew the man who was the dictator at that time, one John "Murder-Face" Carroll. The junta consisted of myself; the Great and Powerful Sarcasmo (AKA Star Foster); and She of the Many Names, the deadly manners maven/grammarian/ninja Jillian Ashley Blair Ivey. The junta's reign of terror began immediately, with the old guard put to the wall and a new group of vicious writer/killers brought in to take their place. But in the intervening years, my grip on power slipped, and now I'm not surprised to find myself writing this post while hiding, in disguise, in an undisclosed location (one of the city's many Starbucks), awaiting my inevitable capture and execution by the forces of a new power...
Okay, not exactly. That may be how it happened in the Mirror Universe, but in this universe, Jill, Star, and I took over editorship in completely peaceful fashion, by saying, "Why can't us?" when John asked if anybody was interested in the position. (In fact, if I remember correctly, Star had to talk me into it; she was good at that.) In the almost three years (!) since then, I've really enjoyed co-editing the site. I've read a lot of amazing work from a lot of amazing writers, and seen a lot of great contributions from our awesome readers. But two and three quarters years is a long time to work in the cut-throat world of blog editing, and now I'm ready to hand the job over to somebody else. Picking up the mantle from me will be the very smart and talented Angela DiOrio, who has already contributed a number of great pieces to the site, and will now contribute much more. I feel confident leaving the site in the hands of Angela and Jill, and I look forward to seeing the great changes they have in store for Phillyist.
Although it's not like I'll really be leaving. I'm actually going to keep hanging around, like an unwanted party guest, or the madman in the attic, continuing to write a couple of my favorite Phillyist posts (Whiz of the Web and Photoist). I just won't be an editor anymore. So thanks for all the good times, and here's to many more! Be seeing you.

As "they" say, all good things must come to an end. Nice job Jim. I am glad you will still be contributing posts. I would miss Whiz of the Web.
:) Thanks, Sarcasmom.
