Facebook The Nation (Part 2)

Facebarack3.JPGI have been very vocal of my support for Senator President-Elect Obama on the Facebook, which has drawn both support and ire from fellow Facebookians. (No one can ire more than people with free time on their hands as they troll social networks while at work. I know because I am one of them.)

Please allow me to share some of my favorite posts from the campaign. These are but a sampling of the many fights I have read or had on the Facebook—some are well thought out, some are ridiculous, all are good reads. [Editors' note: all are also copy-pasted directly from Facebook, and therefore not copy-edited.]

And yes, I am a loser for arguing on Facebook.

Argument 1

Things like "majority rules" and "fair share" are communistic concepts right out of The Communist Manifesto and from the communist maxims like "from each according to their ability, to each according to their need", attempting to justify the theft of private property by government under the pretense of "redistribution to the poor" and "efficient utilization of national resources". But for some reason the stolen wealth never seems to make it to the poor, but instead always ends up in the pockets of the party leaders and bureaucrats ! I won't even mention how efficient the Communist regimes of the world have shown themselves to be with their national resources.

Argument 2

These aren't hypotheticals buddy...they are common sense. I'm not going to work harder and risk my money to pay for someone else that isn't willing to work hard and risk their money.

As far as Wall Street, I'm a active trader and if you go back through out market history, the market always goes strong one way, and usually rallies after an election. And you can't correlate today with Obama being elected, because he hasn't and can still lose. Oil went up today, so all the commodity stocks rallied, which has a large weighting in the market.

The market has also been down drastically due to the fact that mutual funds have to sell for tax purposes by the end of the year, hedge funds were getting redemptions, and the credit crisis came to a head all at the same time. Its normal that it would rally as the tax selling has to be done by the end of October. Also, November is the second best month in the stock market.

If Obama is elected, the truth of what I have read will be brought to light, and then you can take responsibility for electing a socialist who will be responsible for the end of the American economy.

Argument 3

And "experience in law" may be a good thing, but it is certainly not the most important qualification. Washington was not a lawyer and neither was Reagan. Yes, the President is required by his oath to preserve, protect and defend" the Constitution. No, it does not require a law degree to understand it. (In fact, such can be a hindrance sometimes.)

Argument 4

So many people are falling for this smooth operator and people don’t seem to care what his background is and refuse to believe anything negative about him. Do you know that those loser communist and socialist dictators Fidel Castro and Chavez, that Venezuelan American-hating clown, support Obama? And so do the anti-Israel Middle Eastern leaders. Now why would he attract that kind of support?
I have been watching the Democrat party evolve into a far left, socialist organization that I can no longer identify with. I also follow the news and read as much as I can get my hands on. What I have found about Obama is very disturbing and I really worry about our future. He is slick, delivers a prepared speech very well, but his background and his connections should scare the complacency out of any American. While I understand the feeling out there that this administration has screwed up a lot, what what we may replace it with is at best unknown, and at worst could lead this country to ruin

Argument 5

I might actually vote for Obama if he were a Socialist. That would substantive change as opposed to the lip service he pays to the ideology of change as a political stance - politician in sheeps clothing... But, of course, I acknowledge that I don't know anything, and I may be wrong.

Argument 6

it is not that he is a terrorist, but he WAS associated with people who were involved in bombing in the US. I do not even need to look that deep-he has achieved nothing as a senator and what kind of american name is barak obama?! But if you are ready for socialism, stay angry at the people who believe he is a terrorist and vote for him. I am just as pissed off as you but not because of people buying into youtube clips, but making the deciding factor based on color! Those people need to look deeper to find out what his true ethnic backround really is!

Argument 7

Grant was an alcoholic who's cronyism and incompetence make Bush look like a saint. All he had to do to get into the White House was destroy the south.

Barack Obama smells like fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies and has angels write his speeches.

CASE CLOSED.

Argument 8

On a separate issue, yes, Obama's lack of experience is not the main reason I'm not voting for him. It's primarily what he says he will do in the future (which as David Brooks points out, is where all his accomplishments are) that concerns me. He promises to be the most pro-abortion, higher taxes, socialized health "care," terrorist-coddling President we've had in a long time. (How much is he like Carter? Let me count the ways.) And those are just the issues that I can be sure about. He was for a ban on all guns before he was against it (and public campaign financing, and Jeremiah Wright for 20 years, and Tony Rezko, and Bill Ayers, etc.).

But I'm just one of them thar bitter gun- and religion-clingers.

Until Palin came along and gave me someone to vote FOR, I was primarily voting for McCain out of a sense of voting against Obama. McCain is not my first pick for Prez by a long shot, but at least I know where he stands and he has a consistent record that tells me what he believes and how he'll likely act on it. He's pro-life, pro-gun, pro-freedom, anti-terrorism, anti-gay "marriage," and promises to elect conservative judges. Obama would be the opposite, I believe.

Today is a great day.
