Philly.com has plenty of pictures, and many stories about the fans and their celebrations. Speaking of celebrations, here are the details on the victory parade, to be held at noon tomorrow. We think it's lame that school kids won't get the day off. Meanwhile, what's with the color of the LOVE Park fountain? And there is such a thing as going too far for your fandom.
- "The defense attorney for State Sen. Vincent J. Fumo subjected Fumo's estranged son-in-law to a lively and grueling cross-examination yesterday, repeatedly challenging his testimony as a prosecution witness." Meanwhile, there was more testimony from the informant in the Fort Dix case, and a former employee of an affiliate of ACORN testified in another case that the community group knew that most new voter registration forms it had gathered were fraudulent.
- The Delaware County medical examiner said yesterday that an 81-year-old Woodlyn woman found dead at her home Monday had been strangled and stabbed.
- A Delaware County police chief has been arrested on charges that he stole and forged a former inmate's checks, using one for a down payment on a Cadillac Escalade.
- Three more juveniles escaped the Youth Study Center's new temporary home on Henry Avenue Wednesday night.
- Rick's Steaks served its last meal yesterday. The day's proceeds, which Rick Olivieri estimated at $1,500, will go to the family of Philadelphia Police Officer Isabel Nazario. Geno's Steaks, not to be outdone, is donating all proceeds from 10AM this morning until 10AM tomorrow to the families of Nazario and Patrick McDonald.
- The Benjamin Franklin Bridge will be closed Sunday morning for the 14th annual Cooper-Norcross Bridge Challenge.
- A federal judge yesterday ordered Pennsylvania election officials to issue emergency paper ballots if 50 percent or more of any precinct's machines fail at any one time on Election Day. Meanwhile, Philly.com has coverage of more local races.
- Philadelphia's public-school teachers voted last night for a one-year contract extension.
One of the best of many photos of last night's celebrations by Flickr user LuvataciousSkull. This one also sums it all up pretty well; a Yuengling in one hand and a "Go Phillies!" sign in the other! You can't get much more Philly than that.
