• Michael has officially arrived in Philadelphia: His caricature now appears on the wall of The Palm restaurant.
• Michael made the best decision of his administration thusfar this week: Billy Penn will not be donning Phillies gear for the World Series.




• The Philadelphia School District, with Michael's encouragement, is going to begin expelling the most violent students in the city's schools. It begs the question, what are these delinquents now going to be doing between the hours of 7 a.m. and 3 p.m.?
• This week, Michael helped launch a statewide initiative to call attention to chronic diseases such as cancer and mental illness.
• Michael announced that the 2009 selection for One Book, One Philadelphia will be The Soloist, a book (and soon to be a film) about a homeless classical violinist—a particularly apt choice given the city's current homelessness situation.
