THE ELECTRIC FACTORY PRESENTS: RISE AGAINST, THRICE, ALKALINE TRIO, AND THE GASLIGHT ANTHEM
Thrice is actually on this tour in support of Rise Against, who are touring to promote their October 7 release, Appeal to Reason. However, since this Phillyist is a big Thrice fan (read this and this), we're hyping them for tonight's show.
However, that is no reason not to expect the utmost rock from headliners Rise Against and Thrice's fellow supporters, Alkaline Trio (whose recent release Agony and Irony is more of the same and is sure to please longtime fans) and New Jersey natives The Gaslight Anthem.
We'll be keeping our eyes and ears on Thrice and The Gaslight Anthem tonight and posting a review of their performances tomorrow.
If you're nervous about spending Friday at work licking the wounds you acquired in the mosh pit the night before, consider the second show, scheduled for tomorrow night. And don't worry, we'll be there, too, focusing our attention on Alkaline Trio and the headliners, Rise Against.

KELLY WRITERS HOUSE PRESENTS: TOM MOON'S 1000 RECORDINGS TO HEAR BEFORE YOU DIE
If you're interest in music this evening is of a more academic nature, consider attending this discussion, hosted by the Kelly Writers House, with the well-known music journalist about the pieces he included in his new book, 1000 Recordings to Hear Before You Die. It's true that, for the more dedicated audiophiles among us, one thousand is not exactly as large a number as it may first appear. And that's all the more reason to find out how Moon whittled down the massive catalog of recordings he has encountered over the years.
WHO: Anyone!
WHERE: Kelly Writers House at the University of Pennsylvania, 38th and Locust Streets (map)
WHEN: 6pm
HOW MUCH: Free free free! The Kelly Writers House events page can be found here.
