- Today's news out of TGS: impressions of trailers for both Final Fantasy Versus XIII and Final Fantasy XIII; details and a trailer for Halo 3: Recon; a hands-on experience with Rygar for the Wii; fun with Taiko Drum Master; new characters unveiled for Tatsunoko vs. Capcom; and finally, some rather impressive gameplay footage from Muramasa: The Demon Blade.
- Julie Taymor is doing Shakespeare again. This time it's The Tempest, and the cast includes Helen Mirren as the now female Prospero, Jeremy Irons as her brother, Djimon Hounsou as Caliban, Russell Brand as the jester Trinculo, Alfred Molina as the drunken Stephano, Ben Wishaw as Ariel, and Felicitiy Jones as Miranda. Geoffrey Rush is in negotiations to play Gonzalo. This sounds amazing.
- Rumor has it that Apple is about to announce a new Mac notebook that will sell for under $1000. We'll know for sure after the press event on Tuesday, 10AM.
- Wired's Gadget Lab also seems sad that Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles might get canceled (speaking of which, time for another plug: watch the show, people!), so they suggest some gadgets that should be featured on the show. We particularly like the "gadget" that one reader has suggested at the bottom of the post: Megan Fox! That'd bring in the viewers!
- The next big video game event coming up is Blizzcon! Game|Life is asking readers if they have any questions for the Blizzard upper-ups. If you can't be there, you might be pleased to know that Blizzard will be streaming select events live on the web. And frustrated to know that Diablo 3 will be playable at demo stations there.
- Cinematical picks seven first-person horror movies worth watching.
- Some details on The James Bond Experience, and pics from an exhibit on Ian Fleming.
- Josh Brolin has supposedly signed on to star in Jonah Hex, we assume as the titular gunslinger.
- The first episode of PG Porn, starring Nathan Fillion, can be seen here. It's actually... really twisted. Wow.
- Rumor has it that Warner Brothers would like to see Ryan Gosling play the Green Lantern.

- Some early reviews of Oliver Stone's W. are coming in, and it sounds like the movie is good, and surprisingly even-handed. Phillyist will have to see for ourselves, though.
- Joystiq got its hands on the new Xbox experience.
- As we expected, Microsoft is still denying rumors that a Blu-ray player is coming to the Xbox 360.
- Wired takes us on a stroll through Jay Walker's personal library, which is loaded with incredible historical artifacts.
- Rick Astley had been nominated for the MTV Europe Music Awards' Best Act Ever category, which will be decided by online polling, and some folks have been hacking together scripts to ensure that Astley will win. Wired interviews the most ambitious of these: Vote4Rick.
- The judge who temporarily stopped sales of RealDVD has now made the injunction indefinite. No RealDVD for you!
- Apparently some copies of the latest issue of Esquire are loaded with futuristic e-Ink. Check out the videos.
- ABC is developing a new adaptation of V.
- A trailer and pictures from David Goyer's upcoming supernatural thriller The Unborn. Hey, nice Don't Look Now reference there!
- Sci Fi Wire has an interesting list here: ten reasons mainstream audiences will ignore Watchmen.
- Looks like the DVD and Blu-ray releases of The Incredible Hulk will include the attempted suicide scene that's said to also feature a cameo from Captain America.
- If anything associated with DC has a "collector's edition," it's pretty much a given that it will have a cover by Alex Ross, and Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe is no exception. Meanwhile, Game|Life finds the game's Teen rating disturbing.
- Rumor has it Brandon Routh may still be playing Superman in the next movie. We kind of doubt it, but... okay.
- The popularity of a recent "motion comic" of Watchmen has convinced Warner Bros. and D.C. to adapt Batman: Black & White and Superman: Red Son to the medium as well.
- Shigeru Miyamoto says the Zelda franchise requires "big new unique ideas," and added that the development team "is very focused on trying to find those ideas."
