A steaming hot pile of our favorite things from around the internets.

- Crisis averted! Royalties won't be increased, and the iTunes Music Store won't be shut down... this time! (Via Sarah)
- AMC is developing a series based on Red Mars, the first book in Kim Stanley Robinson's epic sci-fi trilogy about the colonization of Mars.
- Today's collection of ridiculous election-related links: 7-Eleven's coffee cup poll (via Zoe); Defective Yeti's liveblog of last night's Biden-Palin debate; the pink camouflage Sarah-Cuda hunting bow, in honor of Sarah Palin; a poster and T-shirt from the Shatner/Hasselhoff campaign; and the info on which candidates video game industry upper-ups are contributing to (via).
- If you didn't get enough Nintendo news yesterday, we've got some more today! After the press conference in Japan, there was a media summit in San Francisco which went over the same stuff for Americans, and added a few more announcements. Joystiq and Game|Life were both there to liveblog it, of course. If you want the short version of what came out of it all, check out a couple info roundups. Basically, we can look forward to Club Nintendo coming to North America by the end of the year, and a Wii Speak channel. We also got some footage from Punch Out and Sin and Punishment 2; if you want more visual aids, Wii Fanboy collects its six favorite media summit videos here, and a bunch of screenshots here. And finally... Wii HD?
- USB Mini Fridge! Brilliant! (Via Sarah)
- A live-action Yogi Bear movie is on the way; Yogi and Boo Boo will be CG. Hoo boy.
- Cinematical reports from the New York Film Festival, musing on such things as Darren Aronofsky's The Wrestler, Steven Soderbergh's take on Che, and Marisa Tomei as a stripper.
- Martin Scorsese and Robert De Niro are re-teaming for a movie about gangsters! It's based on Charles Brandt's book, I Heard You Paint Houses, with a screenplay by Steve Zaillian. Exciting!
- A few tidbits about Iron Man 2 from Jon Favreau. Oh, and speaking of Iron Man, beware! The new Blu-ray disc release starts a 30-minute-long download when you first put it in (via Sarah). Click through for the info on how to get around it.
- Sweet iPhone coasters.
- Nokia is having a headset design competition. (Via)
- Sci Fi Wire has more detail from Zack Snyder's press conference on Watchmen the other day.
- As everyone knows, the producers and staff always get goofy Halloween names on the credits of the Simpsons "Treehouse of Horror" episodes. Writer Matt Selman doesn't feel he's very good at making up his, so he's asking readers to come up with it for him. Exercise your creativity!
- Steven Segal is in talks to do Under Siege 3, and is hoping it will be about something more mystical or extraterrestrial in nature this time. Okay then. As long as no one lets him direct it!
