RealNetworks launched a new piece of software called RealDVD, which lets you make backups of your DVDs for viewing on a PC. The company also asked a federal court to rule that RealDVD is legal, since it copies an entire DVD to a hard drive, but doesn't allow that copy to be ripped or posted to the internet. They'll have to hope that works out for them, as they've been sued over the software by six major Hollywood studios.
