Whiz of the Web: Wednesday Whiz-Up

• The guy who made Wanted is going to direct a revisionist version of Moby Dick. Apparently in this version the whale will be more like Jaws, and Ahab will be a brave and charismatic leader. What?!? We think we just heard the voices of millions of English teachers crying out in rage.
• Everybody's talking about the new YouTube ad for Wario Land: Shake It!, and with good reason: it's very cool. (Via)
• Star Wars: The Force Unleashed sold 1.5 million units worldwide in less than a week, making it the fastest-selling Star Wars game of all time.
• Check out Mad Catz's portable Rock Band drum kit for Xbox 360.
• Let the gnashing of teeth begin! This coming Monday, Xbox Live will be down the entire day so the system can be prepared for updates that are coming further down the road.

• Apparently one of the projects that the now disbanded Ensemble studio was working on was a Halo MMO.
• The Googlephone has been officially announced, and Android SDK 1.0 has been released.
• A mash-up of Wolfenstein 3D and Flickr? Can't say we expected that.
• Paul Campbell, the guy who played Billy in Battlestar Galactica, is also playing a character named Billy in Knight Rider. And the Knight Rider people say they plan to have some fun with the coincidence in an upcoming Halloween episode. Will it be a Battlestar Galactica crossover? Because that's probably the only thing that would get us to watch an episode of Knight Rider.

• Billy Crystal is joining the cast of Tooth Fairy, which already includes Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Ashley Judd, and Julie Andrews.
• Aww, Myst is 15 years old today. Sigh. We remember when it was just a little baby...
• A screenshot that recently appeared online (and was quickly disappeared) suggests that the next version of Microsoft's Windows Operating System may include an automatic patching system designed to keep your PC games up to date.
• The rather mysterious Golden Axe: Beast Rider now has a release date: October 17th.
• New images from Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.
• Apparently there are going to be twice as many gay and lesbian characters on TV this season as last season. Nice!
• Mega Man 9 doesn't support GameCube controllers. Lame!
• We're just going to throw a title at you here: Mecha Manga Bible Heroes: David vs. Goliath. Yes, it is apparently a really real thing.
