  • We knew that the economic downtimes would mean bad things for the city, but we didn't realize it was this bad. Michael delivered the news to the City Council that the city's five-year financial plan was short by $450 million. Yikes.
  • The first victim of the city's economic tightening: a would-be press aide for Michael's Managing Director.
  • Michael unveiled the BenePhilly program, which aims to help low-income senior citizens obtain state and federal health benefits.
  • Michael, along with about a hundred other members of the Philadelphia braintrust, will be out of town for a good part of next week to have a powwow with Atlanta's leaders as part of a leadership exchange program. We don't think taxpayers are footing the bill for this one.
  • Michael is not alone in his fight to enact local gun ordinances. He's now part of a coalition of Pennsylvania mayors who believe in gun regulation on a local level, particularly with respect to reporting lost or stolen weapons.
