- Michael's starting to feel the pinch of the country's struggling economy. D'oh.
- Michael applauded SEPTA's new train cars as a "better way to get around," and "a way to create jobs and economic development." We'll see if they're a way for SEPTA to run on time and without those pesky "slippery rail" delays.
- Michael's cheesy quote of the week: "Crime does not pay. Crime fighting, though, does." (Though that's still not as bad as, "If you lose your piece, call the police.")
- We knew one of Michael's primary concerns when taking office was the state of Philadelphia's educational system. This week he outlined his education goals in more definite terms.
- Michael got a big victory this week when Foxwoods agreed to move its proposed location from South Philadelphia to the Gallery at Market East. Of course, locals there are already aligning against the casino. (Remember, Chinatown didn't want the Phillies' stadium a few years ago—why would they now want a casino?)
