Daggers Ready

It's surprisingly difficult, if not downright impossible, to get biographical information about The Fratellis (MySpace). Much like the Ramones did way back when, each of the three members of The Fratellis use their band's name as a surname, but as to who they are really, or what they did prior to the band's formation in 2005? Well, even Wikipedia isn't helping.

But at the end of the day, it doesn't really matter, because this trio of Scottish lads really knows how to rock. Their debut CD, Costello Music, was on pretty constant rotation over at Chez Ross-and-Jill last year (Ross even called it one of his favorite albums of 2007) and they've followed it up this year with Here We Stand, which promises more of the same rock-your-face-off, kinda retro, totally infectious, absolutely danceable tracks.

We've also had a chance of late to listen to one of the openers tonight, The Airborne Toxic Event. And believe it or not, despite them being far less-well known than the evening's headlining act, the web has much more information about them. Although obviously younger and rawer than The Fratellis, this is a band with a solid sound that should compliment the headliners well. We've listened to their self-titled CD a couple of times in the car and found it not only to be excellent driving music, but also the kind of music we'd happily listen to at the office, the bar, or just at home, which makes us optimistic about their performance.
