  • "A Delaware County woman, who allegedly helped her boyfriend lure young victims to her babysitting service so he could secretly tape sexually explicit videos of them in what authorities have called the 'most horrific case' of child exploitation they have seen, pleaded guilty in a federal courtroom yesterday. "
  • 29-year-old Anthony Derubeis of Upper Darby decided to barbecue some books on his grill yesterday morning. When firefighters arrived, he started throwing stuff at them, like plates and full water bottles. Then he went inside and refused to come out, and eventually ended up getting into a fight with police, who subdued him. "We feel the guy may have some mental-health issues that have to be dealt with," said the Upper Darby Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood Sr. No kidding!
  • Royersford native and Center City information-technology manager "Humble" Bob Shoudt beat out No. 1-ranked competitive eater and Wing Bowl champion Joey Chestnut at a Cincinnati chili eat-off in Ohio on Monday. He ate 13 1/2 pounds of Cincinnati chili for the win and $2,500 in prize money.

  • The Philadelphia Historical Commission decided yesterday that two 150-year-old buildings—the former Fernley & Fernley headquarters at 1900 and 1902 Arch St.—are not historic enough to save, and a developer's attempt to knock them down to build a parking lot is likely to resume tomorrow.
