Happy birthday Social Security! Here's to another 73 years—or at least until we retire.
NEIGHBORHOOD HEARTS AND HANDS: A CHILDREN’S PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBIT
The children of the Goodlands Community Arts Program live in some of the roughest areas of the city. But that doesn't mean they can't do their part to empower themselves and their neighbors. As a project of the grassroots community-building organization Centro Nueva Creacion, Goodlands is focused on bringing the power of art to the children of North Philadelphia. The artists' ages range from 5 to 13 years old and they'll be at tonight's opening reception at the NEXUS/Foundation for Today's Art to discuss their photographs. These kids aren't just staying out of trouble, they're developing a keen eye for the world around them. Maybe in ten years, they'll be teaching kids how to document life through their own eyes.
